Abstract


Perceptions embedded in the minds of high school students about difficult foreign language, and boring Indonesian language lessons influences their motivation in learning. In 2012, it was reported that 331 high school students in South Sulawesi did not pass the national examination. It was caused by the low score of Indonesian and English. Low student motivation and unsatisfactory achievement are also caused by teachers' attitudes toward learning, such as boring and non-systematic teaching strategies and techniques, and lack of creative use of authentic materials. Exciting language learning was developed among others by the French Institute, which is called Français Langue Étrangère (FLE), or French for Foreigners. The methods developed in the FLE depart from student-centered learning principles, with the emphasis of L'actionnell or action. For that purpose FLE incorporates entertainment or entertaining elements in its methods. The Department of French Literature, of Hasanuddin University shared the knowledge of the fun teaching and learning method to the language teachers of several secondary schools in Makassar. A vibrant and carefree training atmosphere is an indicator that the training has succeeded in motivating language teachers, and is expected to continue in their classes.Key workds:Français Language Etrangère (FLE), teaching, learning, methode
