Si Manis Yang Tak Terlupakan: Studi tentang Kue Tradisional dalam Tinjauan Antropologi Memori

Abstract

This research aims to know and understand the socio-cultural dynamics that influence the existence of traditional barongko cakes in today's modern era. Departing from the initial observation of the proliferation of modern types of cakes, but traditional barongko cakes still exist in Makassar City. In addition, this study also aims to look deeper into the meaning of collective memory of the community that has a role in maintaining barongko. This research uses qualitative research methods whose data collection is carried out by means of observation, in-depth interviews, literature study, and documentation. The informants in this study amounted to 8 people who were determined by purposive technique with certain criteria. This research explores how the traditional barongko cake has become an inseparable part of the lives of Bugis-Makassar people in South Sulawesi. By tracing the footsteps of time through an ethnographic approach, this research found that the socio-cultural dynamics have an influence on the existence of barongko in the present, as well as the power of collective memory that keeps the flame of tradition and memories, making barongko a timeless marker of time.
