Abstract

The prolonged conflict between Palestine and Israel has had a significant impact on civilians, creating an urgent need for humanitarian assistance. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) plays a crucial role in conflict management by providing medical aid, food, clean water, civilian and detainee protection, as well as advocating for compliance with international humanitarian law (IHL). This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and content analysis of various secondary sources to understand the ICRC’s contribution in mitigating the humanitarian impact of the conflict. The findings indicate that the ICRC, as a neutral and impartial organization, not only delivers humanitarian aid but also creates space for dialogue and promotes adherence to IHL. Moving forward, the effectiveness of ICRC’s humanitarian assistance can be enhanced through strengthened collaboration with other international organizations and increased advocacy for IHL compliance among conflicting parties. These efforts are expected to alleviate civilian suffering and foster a more stable environment for a potential sustainable conflict resolution.
