Abstract
These research aims to study the potential of chromium(III) complex compounds as active compounds in treating type-2 diabetes mellitus, study of the potential of biomass nanosilica as a drug carrier agent for chromium(III)-based supplement preparations, and formulate the development of a hypoglycemic anti-diabetes mellitus type-2 supplement formula. Based on a Cr3+-amino acid complex supported by nanosilica from wulung bamboo leaves. The research was conducted with a literature review method using a backward search and forward search strategy. The results showed that the Cr3+-amino acid was able to stabilize blood glucose levels in test animals induced by DM type 2. The presence of nanosilica in the preparation can regulate the release of active compounds in the body so that it can be developed into hypoglycemic supplements in tablet form. Tablet preparations have the advantage that they are physically and chemically stable, have the right dosage, and easy to use.
