Authors are invited to submit original, scientifically rigorous, and technically relevant manuscripts to SENSISTEK: Riset Sains dan Teknologi Kelautan. Manuscripts should contribute to the advancement of marine science, maritime technology, ocean engineering, coastal systems, or related interdisciplinary fields.

Before submission, authors should carefully review the Aim and Scopes, Publication Ethics, and the official manuscript template. Manuscripts that are clearly outside the journal scope or do not meet basic scholarly and technical requirements may be returned during initial editorial screening.

1. General Requirements

Manuscripts must present original work that has not been published previously in substantially the same form and is not simultaneously under consideration elsewhere.

The manuscript should clearly identify the scientific, engineering, technological, environmental, economic, or societal problem addressed and explain its relevance to marine, maritime, coastal, offshore, ship, port, or ocean systems.

Language: Manuscripts should be written in clear, grammatically correct, and academically appropriate English.

3. Submission Requirements

Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's online submission system using the official manuscript template.

Authors should ensure that all required metadata are entered accurately, including the manuscript title, author names, affiliations, country, corresponding author information, abstract, keywords, and other relevant metadata.

ORCID identifiers are encouraged for all authors where available.

4. Manuscript Structure

Original research manuscripts should normally contain:

Review articles, technical notes, and methodological papers may use an alternative structure when appropriate to the nature of the study.

5. Title and Author Information

The title should be concise, specific, informative, and accurately reflect the main subject and contribution of the research.

Complete author names, institutional affiliations, and corresponding author information should be provided consistently in both the manuscript and submission metadata.

6. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should normally contain approximately 150–250 words and provide a concise summary of the research problem, objective, methodology, principal findings, and major conclusion.

Authors should provide approximately 3–6 keywords representing the main concepts, methods, systems, or application areas of the study.

7. Introduction

The Introduction should establish the research context, explain the importance of the problem, critically present relevant literature, identify the research or technology gap, state the objective, and clearly explain the novelty or contribution of the study.

8. Materials and Methods

Methods should be described with sufficient detail to permit scholarly evaluation and, where appropriate, reproduction of the study.

Experimental Studies: Report the experimental configuration, model or specimen dimensions, material properties, instrumentation, calibration, test procedures, loading or environmental conditions, repetitions, uncertainty, and relevant quality-control procedures.
Numerical and Computational Studies: Clearly describe governing equations, numerical methods, assumptions, geometry, boundary and initial conditions, mesh or discretization strategy, solver settings, convergence assessment, verification, validation, sensitivity, uncertainty, and limitations where applicable.
Field and Hydro-Oceanographic Studies: Report the study location, observation period, instruments, measurement procedures, sampling strategy, calibration, environmental conditions, data processing, quality control, and limitations.
Engineering Design Studies: Clearly identify the design basis, geometry, materials, loading conditions, environmental criteria, operational requirements, assumptions, safety factors, constraints, and applicable engineering standards.

9. Results and Discussion

Results should be presented clearly, logically, and directly in relation to the research objectives.

Numerical values should include appropriate units, performance indicators, statistical measures, uncertainty, or sensitivity information where relevant.

The Discussion should interpret the findings, compare them with relevant previous studies, explain scientific or engineering significance, identify practical implications, and discuss limitations.

10. Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the principal findings without simply repeating the Results section. It should clearly state the contribution, engineering or scientific implications, limitations where relevant, and possible directions for future work.

11. Technical Reporting Requirements

Ships and Marine Structures: Relevant principal dimensions, structural configuration, loading conditions, material properties, operating conditions, environmental parameters, and design assumptions should be clearly reported.
Coastal and Ocean Studies: Authors should report relevant wave, current, tide, bathymetry, sediment, shoreline, meteorological, or environmental data together with their sources and processing methods.
Ports and Maritime Transportation: Operational data, vessel characteristics, demand assumptions, routing parameters, terminal capacity, logistics constraints, economic parameters, or safety indicators should be transparently defined.
AI and Data-Driven Marine Studies: Authors should report dataset sources, sample size, data preprocessing, training and validation procedures, model architecture, performance metrics, benchmark methods, uncertainty, generalization limitations, and potential data leakage where relevant.

12. Tables, Figures and Equations

Tables and figures should be numbered sequentially and cited in the main text. Each table and figure should have a concise and informative caption.

Figures, maps, engineering drawings, photographs, numerical contours, and diagrams should be sufficiently clear for publication and should include readable labels, units, legends, and scales where appropriate.

Equations should be presented consistently, variables should be defined, and SI units are recommended unless another convention is technically justified.

13. Ethics and Transparency Statements

Authors should provide the following information where applicable:

  • Funding statement;
  • Conflict of interest declaration;
  • Acknowledgements;
  • Ethics approval;
  • Informed consent;
  • Data availability statement;
  • Industrial or institutional permissions;
  • AI-use disclosure.

Authors are responsible for securing permission for copyrighted figures, photographs, maps, technical drawings, proprietary information, and restricted datasets.

14. Artificial Intelligence Use

Artificial intelligence systems, generative AI tools, and large language models cannot be listed as authors.

Substantive use of AI in manuscript preparation, coding, simulation, engineering analysis, image processing, prediction, optimization, classification, or literature synthesis should be disclosed where relevant.

Human Accountability: Authors remain fully responsible for independently verifying AI-assisted references, calculations, numerical outputs, data interpretations, engineering predictions, and conclusions.

15. References

References should be relevant, accurate, and sufficient to establish the scientific and engineering basis of the manuscript.

Authors are encouraged to use recent peer-reviewed international literature together with appropriate foundational references.

Engineering standards, technical codes, regulations, official reports, books, and other authoritative sources may be cited where relevant to the study.

DOI information should be included whenever available, and authors are responsible for checking the accuracy of all references before submission.

16. Submission Checklist

  • The manuscript fits the Aim and Scopes of SENSISTEK.
  • The manuscript represents original work.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The official manuscript template has been followed.
  • Title, abstract, and keywords accurately represent the study.
  • The research objective and contribution are clearly stated.
  • Methods are sufficiently described.
  • Engineering assumptions and technical parameters are transparent.
  • Numerical studies include appropriate verification and validation.
  • Experimental and field procedures are adequately reported.
  • Figures and tables are clear and cited in the text.
  • Units and symbols are used consistently.
  • Funding and conflicts of interest are disclosed where applicable.
  • Permissions have been obtained for restricted or copyrighted material.
  • AI-assisted methods or content are disclosed where relevant.
  • References have been checked for accuracy.

17. Revision and Final Publication

Manuscripts that require revision should be revised carefully in response to editor and reviewer comments.

Authors should provide a clear point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed and identify significant changes made in the revised manuscript.

Acceptance is based on the quality of the revised manuscript and satisfactory resolution of relevant editorial and reviewer concerns.

Final Proof: The corresponding author should carefully check author names, affiliations, equations, tables, figures, references, captions, and article metadata before final publication.

Authors are strongly encouraged to ensure that the manuscript clearly demonstrates a substantive contribution to marine science, maritime technology, ocean engineering, coastal systems, or sustainable ocean development before submitting to SENSISTEK.
