Repository Policy

Repository Policy

1. Data Availability
We encourage authors to make their research data publicly available in recognized and trusted repositories to promote transparency, reproducibility, and further research. Authors should deposit data that supports their research findings and provide a statement in the manuscript detailing the data's availability.

Recommended repositories:
- General-purpose repositories: [Zenodo](https://zenodo.org), [Dryad](https://datadryad.org), [Figshare](https://figshare.com).
- Authors are encouraged to use repositories of Social Science as following: [ICPSR](https://www.icpsr.umich.edu/web/pages/), [Harvard Dataverse](https://dataverse.harvard.edu/).

2. Preprint and Postprint Archiving
- Preprints: Authors are allowed to deposit preprints of their manuscripts in recognized preprint repositories such as [arXiv](https://arxiv.org) or [bioRxiv](https://www.biorxiv.org) before submission.
- Postprints (Accepted Manuscripts): Authors may archive the peer-reviewed version of their manuscript (without the journal’s formatting or logos) in institutional or subject-specific repositories. Embargo periods may apply based on the journal’s copyright and access policy.

3. FAIR Principles
We strongly recommend that authors ensure their data complies with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). To achieve this, authors should:
- Assign persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs) to their datasets.
- Use standardized metadata formats for proper indexing.
- Choose repositories that support long-term data preservation.

4. Licensing and Access
- Open access repositories: Data should be deposited under licenses such as CC BY-NC to allow sharing and adaptation of data for non-commercial purposes, with proper attribution to the original author.
- Embargo: Authors can place an embargo on their data, provided they specify a reason and duration.

5. Citation of Data
Authors must cite all datasets used in their research following standard citation practices (e.g., including DOI). Example format:
> Author(s). Year. Title. Repository Name. DOI

6. Supplementary Materials
If the dataset cannot be deposited in a repository, authors must submit it as supplementary material along with the manuscript. The journal will ensure these materials are accessible to readers.

7. Repository for Articles
The journal supports archiving published articles in institutional or subject-based repositories per its open-access policy. Authors may:
- Archive the published version of their article if the journal is fully open access.
- Archive the accepted manuscript version in compliance with embargo periods if the journal operates on a subscription-based model.

8. Compliance with Funder Requirements
Authors must ensure their data-sharing practices comply with their funder's policies and mandates. If specific repositories or licensing terms are required, these must be adhered to during the deposit.
