Abstract

This community service program started with a deep concern over the limited access to healthy food and the high risk of stunting in Bangkalan. The primary challenges faced by the partners include a heavy reliance on expensive external food supplies, restricted access to clean water especially during the dry season, and a collective anxiety regarding the additional electricity costs that often come with modern agricultural. Therefore, the main objective of this initiative is to bolster household food security through the implementation of appropriate technology in the form of an energy-efficient hydroponic system powered by solar energy. The program employed a participatory approach divided into five systematic stages: socialization to align perceptions and needs, technical training on solar panel assembly, integrated system installation in yards, cultivation mentoring, and a final evaluation. The outputs of this activity include the development of a training module and the submission of IPR for the system design. The applied technology utilizes the DFT supported by a 100 WP solar panel and a 12V DC pump, ensuring nutrient circulation without imposing any operational financial burden on the residents. The results of this service demonstrate a tangible transformation among the partners, characterized by a significant improvement in technical skills for autonomous equipment operation and the successful cultivation of lettuce and water spinach through to a high-quality initial harvest. Beyond the physical results, this program has fostered social cohesion, a spirit of mutual cooperation, and newfound self-confidence among the women of the PKK in managing environmentally friendly technology. This success proves that integrating renewable energy into the household agricultural sector is a sustainable solution to improve health standards and the economic independence.
