Instructions for Authors

HASANUDDIN JOURNAL OF ANIMAL SCIENCE (HAJAS)

Hasanuddin Journal of Animal Science (HAJAS) is a scientific journal published by the Faculty of Animal Science, Hasanuddin University, twice a year in May and November. HAJAS is a peer-reviewed open access journal committed to disseminating original research papers and reviews in animal science.


GENERAL INFORMATION

MANUSCRIPT FILE

  • Manuscript must be written in English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture).
  • Manuscript must be spell-checked and grammar-checked.
  • Article files should be provided in Microsoft Word format (please follow the HAJAS manuscript template).
  • Manuscript should be between 4,000 and 8,000 words in length, including references and appendices. Allocate approximately 100-500 words for each figure or table.
  • Manuscripts should be prepared single-spaced in Microsoft Word, with pages numbered consecutively, using Calibri font at 12 points.
  • Tables and figures should be embedded in the text, not placed in separate files. Each table and figure should be cited in the text, numbered, and have an explanatory heading.

CONTENT OF MANUSCRIPTS

Article Title

A title of not more than fourteen words should be provided. The title must contain both a descriptive and concise title of the paper. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible. Each word of the title should start with a capitalized letter where appropriate.

Author Details
List authors in the correct order. Include affiliations and email addresses based on where the research was conducted. 

Abstract
Must be written in English, in a single paragraph, and no more than 250 words. It should include introduction, purpose, methodology, results, and implications. No references should be cited.

Keywords
Maximum of 5 words or phrases.

Introduction
Provide a brief background of the research, novelty, state of the art, and objectives. Support with references. Avoid an extensive literature review or summary. 

Materials and Methods
Describe biological, analytical, and statistical procedures clearly and completely. Include references for original methods and explain any modifications. Describe diets and animal conditions (breed, sex, age, body weight, feeding/watering conditions). Mention commercial products/equipment used (name, specifications, city, country). Use appropriate statistical methods and define models, blocks, and units. Consultation with a statistician is recommended.

Results and Discussion
Present data in tables or figures when feasible. Avoid duplication. Include variation indices (e.g., SD, SE) and significance levels (e.g., P<0.01). Elaborate on data without repeating numbers excessively. Discussion
Interpret results clearly and concisely. Support biological mechanisms with literature. Relate findings to research objectives. Do not repeat results already described.

Conclusion
Write briefly in a single paragraph. Reflect experimental results and implications.

Acknowledgment
Mention individuals or institutions that supported the research.

Author Contribution

Making a statement from all authors about the research and drafting and revising the manuscript, conducting experiments and analyzing data, have read and approved the final manuscript.  

Competing Interest

The authors have to declare that they have no competing interests.

Ethical Clearance

The authors make a statement about having ethical permission to use animals as research subjects, either through direct contact with animals or the use of animal products in research.

  • At least 80% of references must be from journal articles published in the last 10 years.
  • Proceedings, theses, and dissertations are allowed.
  • Electronic sources must be from credible institutions. Include access dates.
