Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

HASANUDDIN JUSTICE AND SOCIETY is an open access and peer-reviewed journal that aims to
offer an national and international academic platform in multi-diciplinary of Law, Society, and Development
studies as Progressive Law. Study focus in Sociology of Law and Sociological Jurisprudence, Psychology of
Law, Forensic and Law, Law and Economics, Anthropology of Law, Law and Politics, Law and Society, Law
and Development, Human Rights, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Legal Pluralism, Public Policy, and another
section related to contemporary issues in legal scholarship. The article based of legal research doing with
an empirical research or normative-empiric research. Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that fall
within the scope of the Hasanuddin Justice and Society (HJS). Please read the information on the peerreview process. The articles published in HJS Journal are going through a double-blind peer-review process.
Hence, the decision on whether the scientific article is accepted or not, will be the Editorial Board’s right
based on the peer reviewer's recommendation.
Please read and understand the author's guidelines for the preparation manuscript. The author who
submits a manuscript to the editors should comply with the author's guidelines and template. If the
submitted manuscript does not comply with the guidelines or using a different format, it will be rejected by
the editorial team before being reviewed. The editorial team will only accept a manuscript that meets the
specified formatting requirements.
Important Note :
We accept manuscript in bahasa indonesia or English, If English is not your first language, we appreciate it if the manuscript has
passed the proofread process by a native or a trusted proofread institution. Do not forget to attach the proofread evidence to
the supplementary file when making a submission. Otherwise, your manuscript will be delayed or even rejected after a
preliminary review by the editorial team.

REVIEW POLICY
Editor in Chief will assign the manuscript to Managing Editor for further handling. The Managing Editor
will request at least two scientists to review the research article manuscript. All manuscripts are
subject to double-blind peer-review, both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the
reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process to meet standards of academic excellence.


PUBLICATION FREQUENCY
the Hasanuddin Justice and Society (HJS) published two times a year in June and December.


OPEN ACCESS POLICY
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research
freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

PAPER FORMAT
✓ The word limit for the submission is 4000-8000 words (including of footnotes and abstract).
✓ The sequence of manuscripts following: Title; Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Method (for
original research articles); Main Heading Analysis; Conclusion; and References.
✓ Referencing style uses the Chicago Manual of Style.


ARCHIVING POLICY
To ensure permanency of all publications, Hasanuddin Justice and Society (HJS) utilises LOCKSS
archiving systems to create permanent archives for the purposes of preservation and restoration.


MAIN HEADINGS OF MANUSCRIPTS
An article may be divided into sections, subsections, and sub-subsections, using Arabic numerals.
Only the initial word and proper names should be capitalized. Following main headings, subheadings and sub-sub headings should be numbered in the manuscript with the following example

TITLE
Title of articles are written with Calibri Light Bold (16 pt) and preferably not more than 14 words.
Author(s) name, affiliations and e-mail.

ABSTRACT
The abstract should be clear, concise, and descriptive. This abstract should provide a brief
introduction to the problem, objective of paper, followed by a statement regarding the method and
a brief summary of results. Font with Calibri Light (10 pt) and preferably not more than 200 words.

KEYWORDS
Keywords arranged by alphabetically and should have at least two keywords and maximum five
keywords separated by a semicolon (;).

INTRODUCTION
The introduction should be clear and provide the issue to be discussed in the manuscript. At the
end of the paragraph, the author/s should end with a comment on the significance concerning
identification of the issue and the objective of research.

METHOD
The method written in descriptive. This Method are optional, only for original research articles.

ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION
This section is the most important section of your article. Contains the results of the object of study
and should be clear and concise.

CONCLUSION
Conclusion contains a description that should answer the objectives of research. Do not repeat the
Abstract or simply describe the results of the research. Give a clear explanation regarding the
possible application and/or suggestions related to the research findings.

REFERENCES
For submissions to issues published from 2021 onwards, the Hasanuddin Justice and Society (HJS)
uses the Chicago Manual of Style in the References at the end of the manuscript. Cite only items
that you have read and written on footnotes. Please use
Reference Manager Applications like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc. Use other published articles
in the same journal as models. All publications cited in the text should be included in the References
section and arranged alphabetically. For example:

PLAGIARISM POLICY
Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are not allowed. The authors should ensure that they have written
entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has
been appropriately cited or quoted. Editorial Team checking manuscript by using Turnitin app. If it
is found plagiarism indication (more than 25%), the board will reject the manuscript immediately.

SUBMISSION MANUSCRIPT
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance
with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to
these guidelines.
1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for
consideration. It is up to the editorial board to decide upon acceptance.
2. The submission file is in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word file format.
The submission article has been in accordance with HJS's Guidelines, which is found in About
the Journal.
3. Any third-party-owned materials used have been identified with appropriate credit lines, and
permission obtained from the copyright holder for all formats of the journal.
4. The author declares the absence of any conflict of interest.
