Editorial Process
Jurnal Gizi Masyarakat Indonesia (The Journal of Indonesian Community Nutrition) invites scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to submit high-quality, original scientific manuscripts in the field of community nutrition and public health.
To ensure efficient handling and timely peer review, all submitting authors must strictly follow the preparation guidelines and requirements detailed below. Manuscripts that do not conform to these guidelines may be rejected or returned to the authors for revision prior to peer review.
Originality: Submissions must be entirely original research articles that have not been previously published and are not simultaneously under consideration by another journal or publisher.
Language: Manuscripts can be written in either standard Indonesian or academic English. All manuscripts must include bilingual titles, abstracts, and keywords (Indonesian and English).
Word Count: The main text of a standard original research article should generally range between 3,500 and 6,000 words (excluding Abstract, Tables, Figures, and References).
Reference Management: Authors are strictly required to use reference management software (such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote) to format citations and bibliography.
File Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
Paper Size & Margins: A4 size paper with standard margins of 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right).
Font & Line Spacing: Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing throughout the manuscript text.
Page Numbers: Insert continuous page numbers at the bottom right of each page.
Blinding for Review: To facilitate a Double-Blind Peer Review process, authors must submit two separate files:
Title Page (Author Details): Contains the manuscript title, full author names, institutional affiliations, ORCID IDs, corresponding author contact details, and acknowledgments.
Anonymized Main Manuscript: Contains the title, abstract, keywords, main text, tables, figures, and references, without any author names, affiliations, or identifying details.
All original research articles must be organized into the following sections:
Concise, informative, and scientifically accurate. Avoid abbreviations and formulas where possible.
Must not exceed 14 words in English (and 14 words in Indonesian).
Abstract Length: 150 to 250 words, written in a Structured Abstract format containing four explicit headings: Background & Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Keywords: Provide 3 to 5 keywords or short phrases immediately below the abstract, ordered alphabetically, that represent the core subjects of the article.
Clearly present the background of the study, the significance of the public health or nutrition issue, a concise review of relevant literature, the research gap, and the explicit objectives of the study.
Describe the research design, study population, sampling methods, sample size calculation, intervention or dietary assessment tools, data collection procedures, and statistical analysis techniques in sufficient detail to allow replication.
Ethical Clearance: Research involving human subjects must explicitly state the protocol approval number and the name of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Research Ethics Committee that granted clearance.
Present the findings logically and clearly using text, tables, and figures.
Do not duplicate data between tables/figures and the main text; highlight only the key trends and statistically significant findings.
Interpret the results in light of the research objectives and existing scientific literature.
Discuss the public health implications, practical applications, mechanisms underlying the findings, and the strengths and limitations of the study.
Avoid over-generalizing conclusions beyond the scope of the data.
Summarize the primary takeaways of the research concisely without repeating the abstract.
Provide actionable recommendations for nutrition programs, public health policies, or future research directions.
Before the References section, authors must include the following sub-sections:
Acknowledgments: Recognize contributors who provided technical, administrative, or statistical support but do not meet authorship criteria.
Funding Statement: Clearly state all sources of financial support for the study (include grant titles and reference numbers).
Conflict of Interest: State whether any author has financial or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of the research. If none exists, state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
Data Availability Statement: Indicate how and where the research data can be accessed (in accordance with the journal's Data Availability Policy).
Tables: Must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals (e.g., Table 1, Table 2). Each table must have a concise, explanatory title above it. Format tables using simple gridlines (horizontal lines for headings and bottom; avoid vertical border lines).
Figures & Charts: Must be high-resolution (at least 300 DPI) and legible. Number figures consecutively (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2) with captions placed below the figure.
The journal uses the APA 7th Edition (American Psychological Association) citation style.
A minimum of 80% of references must be sourced from primary academic literature (peer-reviewed journal articles) published within the last 10 years.
Every cited work in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa. Always include active Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) or functional URLs for referenced articles.
