Journal Policy
1. Journal Philosophy and Scope
The Hasanuddin Notary Journal publishes original scholarship in notarial law and related legal disciplines, both empirical research and theoretical analysis. It encourages the exchange of ideas among academics, researchers, and practitioners. See the Aims and Scope page for details.
2. Who Can Submit
Academics, legal practitioners, policymakers, and postgraduate researchers may submit, provided they hold the rights to the work. Manuscripts are judged on scholarly merit, not on the personal background of the author.
3. General Submission Rules
- Manuscripts must be original and not previously published.
- Manuscripts must not be under review at another journal at the same time.
- Authors are responsible for the accuracy of their work and must ensure that all co-authors approve the submission.
4. Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts follow the Author Guidelines and the Manuscript Template. Authors should check accepted manuscripts for accuracy and completeness before production.
5. Peer Review Process
Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements are reviewed by experts chosen for their expertise and independence. Possible decisions are: accept, minor revision, major revision, revise and resubmit, or reject.
6. Desk Rejection Policy
The editors may reject a manuscript before external review, for example when it does not fit the scope of the journal, its relevance or originality is limited, it has serious methodological weaknesses, it does not meet the submission requirements, it overlaps problematically with other work, or it raises ethical concerns or is promotional in nature.
7. Plagiarism Policy
Manuscripts are screened for similarity before review. Reports are judged in context, not by percentage alone. If serious unattributed overlap is found, the editors may request revision, reject the manuscript, or take action after publication.
8. Withdrawal Policy
Before publication, authors may request withdrawal in writing with the agreement of all co-authors. Withdrawal takes effect once the editors confirm it. For published articles, corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions apply instead.
9. Open Access Policy
This section will be completed once the editorial team confirms the open access policy and any publication fees.
10. Copyright and Licensing
This section will be completed once the editorial team confirms the copyright holder and license. Authors are responsible for identifying third-party material and securing permission to use it.
11. Archiving Policy
This section will be completed once the editorial team confirms the long-term archiving service.
