Publication Ethics

Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review by any other journal, bulletin, or publication. Once accepted, the publication rights belong to the publisher, and authors are not permitted to publish the same manuscript in any other journal or scientific publication. This journal is published online twice a year, in April and October, serving as a medium for disseminating research and thought in forestry and forest product studies.

This publication ethics statement governs all parties involved in the publication process of Jurnal Perennial, including the publisher, editors, reviewers, and authors. It upholds three core ethical principles:

  • Neutrality – Free from conflicts of interest in publication management.
  • Fairness – Ensuring proper authorship attribution.
  • Integrity – Free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism.

Publisher's Responsibilities

  • The publisher of PERENNIAL, the Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Hasanuddin, is responsible for publishing articles that have undergone proper editing, peer review, and layout processes in accordance with scientific publishing standards.
  • The publisher ensures academic freedom for editors and reviewers in carrying out their duties.
  • The publisher is also responsible for maintaining privacy, protecting intellectual property and copyright, and upholding editorial independence.

Editor’s Responsibilities

  • Editors of PERENNIAL are responsible for deciding which manuscripts are suitable for publication. Editorial decisions are made collectively by the editorial board, based on applicable legal standards regarding defamation, copyright infringement, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
  • During the review and acceptance process, editors apply equal treatment to all manuscripts, regardless of the authors’ race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political ideology.
  • Editors and the editorial board must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts without the author’s permission.
  • Unpublished manuscripts will not be used by the editors for personal purposes and will be returned to the authors.

Reviewer’s Responsibilities

  • Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and are responsible for providing recommendations on the manuscripts they review.
  • Reviews must be conducted objectively and supported by clear arguments.
  • Reviewers are responsible for identifying citations, references, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism in the manuscripts they evaluate.
  • Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and must not use any information from the manuscripts for personal gain.

Author’s Responsibilities

  • Authors must present their research or ideas clearly, honestly, and without duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, or plagiarism.
  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the content in their manuscripts.
  • Authors must properly cite the work and opinions of others.
  • Manuscripts must be written ethically, honestly, and responsibly, in accordance with accepted scientific writing standards.
  • Authors agree to editorial revisions during the review and layout process, provided that the substance or core ideas of the manuscript are not altered.
