Evaluation of Forage and Concentrate Feed Proportions and Nutritional Adequacy in Fattening Cattle
Abstract
Feed is an important factor in beef cattle production; therefore, both the quality and quantity of the feed provided must be considered. This study aimed to evaluate the proportion of forage and concentrate feed and the nutritional adequacy of fattening cattle. The evaluation was conducted to determine whether the forage and concentrate provided met the nutritional requirements of beef cattle based on Dry Matter (DM), Crude Protein (CP), and Total Digestible Nutrients (TDN) standards. This study used quantitative descriptive statistics to analyze feed and beef cattle consumption data and compare them with cattle nutritional requirements based on body weight. The observed parameters included feed nutrient content, feed consumption and nutritional adequacy. The study showed that the proportion of feed provided in terms of quantity was 73.10:26.90. DM and TDN consumption were within the range that relatively met requirements; however, most cattle had insufficient protein intake, as protein consumption was slightly below the required level. This evaluation recommends improving concentrate composition and enhancing forage quality to optimize beef cattle nutrition.
