About the Journal
Tamalanrea: Journal of Government and Development (JGD) is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality, original research. Please see the journal's Aims & Scope for information about its focus and peer-review policy. Contributions are welcomed from government scientists, political economists, historians, anthropologists, sociologists, political scientists, economists, geographers, lawyers, and others committed to the rigorous study and analysis of government and development-related issues and local and global insight.
Please note that this journal publishes manuscripts in English or Bahasa Indonesia.
Tamalanrea: Journal of Government and Development (JGD) accepts the following types of article:
- Original Article (3000 - 8000 words)
- Research Note (1500 - 3000 words)
- Article and Book Review (1500 - 3000 words)
The peer review criteria for JGD comprise of contemporary relevance, contribution to governance knowledge and implications for governance and development research, conceptual clarity and logic in analysis, organisation and readability in the presentation, methodology of research articles, appropriateness of references and originality.
Preparing and Submitting Manuscript
(i) Articles submitted to the journal should be original contributions and should not be under consideration for any other publication. Exceptions to this rule should be clearly indicated at the time of submission.
(ii) New submissions should be made via the Open Journal System (OJS) submission. Should your manuscript proceed to the revision stage, you will be directed to make your revisions via the same submission portal. You may check the status of your submission at anytime by logging on to OJS and clicking the “Submissions” menu. By submitting a manuscript to or reviewing for this publication, your name, email address, and affiliation, and other contact details the publication might require, will be used for the regular operations of the publication, including, when necessary, sharing with the publisher (Department of Government Science) and partners for production and publication. The publication and the publisher recognize the importance of protecting the personal information collected from users in the operation of these services, and have practices in place to ensure that steps are taken to maintain the security, integrity, and privacy of the personal data collected and processed. Manuscripts can be uploaded either as a single document (containing the main text, tables and figures), or with figures and tables provided as separate files. Should your manuscript reach revision stage, figures and tables must be provided as separate files. The main manuscript file should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
Your main document file should include:
· A short informative title containing the major key words. The title should not contain abbreviations;
· The full names of the authors with institutional affiliations where the work was conducted, with a footnote for the author’s present address if different from where the work was conducted;
· Acknowledgments;
· Abstract structured (intro/methods/results/conclusion) or unstructured with 150-250 words;
· Up to seven keywords;
· Practitioner Points (optional) Authors will need to provide no more than 3 ‘key points’, written with the practitioner in mind, that summarize the key messages of their paper to be published with their article;
· Main body: formatted as introduction, materials & methods, results, discussion, conclusion
· References;
· Tables (each table complete with title and footnotes);
· Figures: Figure legends must be added beneath each individual image during upload AND as a complete list in the text.
Length
The number of words for the Original Article, Research Note, and Article and Book Review is no more than 8000, 4000, and 3000 words, respectively.
Style Guidelines
Please refer to these quick style guidelines when preparing your paper, rather than any published articles or a sample copy.
Any spelling style is acceptable so long as it is consistent within the manuscript.
Please use single quotation marks, except where ‘a quotation is “within” a quotation’.
Please note that long quotations should be indented without quotation marks.
Non-English speaking authors are advised to send their manuscripts for language editing before submission.
The manuscript title is limited to 25 words.

References
Please use the APA reference style when preparing your paper. Authors are encouraged to use the Mendeley tool to assist you in following APA reference style.
Plagiarism Policy
The Tamalanrea Journal employs a plagiarism detection system. By submitting your manuscript to this journal, you accept that your manuscript may be screened for plagiarism against previously published works.
Author Name Change Policy
In cases where authors wish to change their name following publication, The journal will update and republish the paper and redeliver the updated metadata to indexing services. Our editorial and production teams will use discretion in recognizing that name changes may be of a sensitive and private nature for various reasons including (but not limited to) alignment with gender identity, or as a result of marriage, divorce, or religious conversion. Accordingly, to protect the author’s privacy, we will not publish a correction notice to the paper, and we will not notify co-authors of the change. Authors should contact the journal’s Editorial Office with their name change request.
Data Sharing Policy
Authors are encouraged to share or make open the data supporting the results or analyses presented in their paper where this does not violate the protection of human subjects or other valid privacy or security concerns.
Authors are encouraged to deposit the dataset(s) in a recognized data repository that can mint a persistent digital identifier, preferably a digital object identifier (DOI) and recognizes a long-term preservation plan. Authors are further encouraged to cite any data sets referenced in the article and provide a Data Availability Statement.
Where one or multiple data sets are associated with a manuscript, these are not formally peer-reviewed as a part of the journal submission process. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure the soundness of data. Any errors in the data rest solely with the producers of the data set(s).
Publication Charges
There are no submission fees, publication fees or page charges for this journal.
