Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal  (Indones. Contemp. Nurs. J. - ICON Journal) serves as an international, peer-reviewed, open-access platform dedicated to advancing the science and art of nursing. Guided by the vision From solving contemporary issues to developing evidence-based practice,” the journal bridges local realities with global relevance. While rooted in Indonesia, the journal extends its reach across the Asia–Pacific region as well as other countries that share similar contemporary nursing challenges, emphasizing research that addresses context-specific health and professional issues.

ICON Journal positions itself as a collaborative hub connecting researchers from developing and developed countries, facilitating knowledge exchange and comparative insights that strengthen global nursing scholarship. Through this mission, the journal transforms local and regional nursing challenges into globally transferable evidence, making a significant and sustained Contribution to Global Nursing Practice. ICON Journal focuses on publishing research that advances contemporary nursing through three key domains: Research and Theory, Fundamental and Skills, Care Planning, and Advanced and Specialist Nursing. The journal welcomes original studies, reviews, case studies, and perspectives that strengthen evidence-based care, integrate theoretical and methodological rigor into nursing practice, and support the development of advanced and specialist roles across diverse clinical settings.

Editor Policy

Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal  (Indones. Contemp. Nurs. J. - ICON Journal) is dedicated to upholding the utmost standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The editor selects three reviewers with expertise in the relevant field to assess the scientific quality of manuscripts that have passed the initial check.

Every manuscript submitted is subject to a double-blind peer review process to guarantee fairness, transparency, and scientific rigor. The Editorial Board adheres to international standards by following the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts in accordance with these ethical standards, ensuring originality, accuracy, and relevance to the nursing and health sciences fields.

Diversity in Editorial and Authorhsip

Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal upholds diversity and inclusivity as essential principles in advancing global nursing scholarship. Recognizing that diversity enriches scientific discourse, the journal values contributions that reflect a range of cultural, academic, and regional perspectives in nursing and health sciences. The Editorial Board comprises international experts representing diverse regions and disciplines, ensuring a balanced and inclusive editorial process. This diversity enhances the journal’s ability to evaluate and disseminate research from multiple cultural and clinical contexts. Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal also encourages collaborative and multi-country authorship, promoting joint research between Indonesian, regional, and international scholars. Authorship and Contributorship

Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal  (Indones. Contemp. Nurs. J. - ICON Journal) adheres to the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) framework to transparently acknowledge individual contributions. Authors are required to detail their involvement in areas such as conceptualization, data curation, methodology, analysis, and manuscript writing. Every author listed must have significantly contributed to the work and given their approval for the final manuscript version. The practice of guest or honorary authorship is strictly forbidden.

Publication Schedule

Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal  (Indones. Contemp. Nurs. J. - ICON Journal) maintains a regular and consistent publication schedule, ensuring the timely dissemination of high-quality scientific works. Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal publishes two issues per year, in February and August, reflecting its commitment to editorial stability and reliability. This consistent publication pattern supports academic credibility and aligns with international indexing standards, including Scopus requirements for journal continuity and publication regularity.

Data Availability Policy

Researchers are encouraged to make their datasets available to support their study results whenever it is ethically and legally feasible. Every manuscript should contain a Data Availability Statement that indicates whether the data are: included in the article, accessible upon reasonable request, or stored in a recognized repository. This policy aims to enhance transparency, reproducibility, and the progress of evidence-based nursing research.

Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

It is essential for all authors, reviewers, and editors to reveal any possible conflicts of interest that might affect the impartiality of their work. Authors are also required to disclose all financial or institutional support sources in their manuscript. In cases where no conflict of interest is present, authors should include the following statement: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.” This practice ensures transparency and compliance with the ethical standards set by COPE and ICMJE.

Archiving and Digital Preservation

All published articles are securely stored in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and LOCKSS systems to guarantee their long-term availability. Each article is given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to facilitate global citation and indexing.
