Author Guidelines

ICON Journal accepts three categories of manuscripts designed to support concise and high-quality scientific communication: Original Study, which reports empirical findings from qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research; Review Study, which includes systematic, scoping, or narrative reviews that synthesize and evaluate existing evidence and Perspective articles, which are short scholarly pieces offering insights, reflections, or theoretical viewpoints relevant to nursing.

Manuscript Preparation

  1. Cover Letter
The cover letter must state that the manuscript is not under consideration by any other journal while being reviewed by ICON Journal. It should briefly describe the importance, novelty, and relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s aims and editorial scope.

  2. Title Page
The title page must include the full article title; the full names of all authors with their ORCID iDs; institutional affiliations with city and country; and complete contact details for the corresponding author. It must also contain a conflict of interest declaration and acknowledgments when appropriate.

  3. Acknowledgment Section
This section recognizes individuals or institutions that contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria. Funding support, technical assistance, or ethical approval information may be included when relevant.

  4. Authors’ Contribution
Contributions must be described based on involvement in study design or data processes, manuscript drafting or critical revision, and approval of the final version. Only contributors meeting all criteria qualify as authors.

  5. Abstract
Original Study and Review articles require a structured abstract (objective, methods, results, conclusion). Perspective articles use an unstructured abstract. The abstract must not exceed 250 words.

  6. Keywords
Each manuscript must include three to five keywords listed alphabetically

  7. Main Manuscript

    7.a. Introduction
The Introduction provides background, context, and the objectives of the study or analysis.

    7.b. Methods
The Methods section must describe the study design, population, inclusion and exclusion criteria, recruitment methods, setting, instruments used, data collection procedures, statistical analysis (including software), and significance criteria. Authors are encouraged to follow EQUATOR guidelines such as CONSORT, TREND, PRISMA, CARE, STROBE, and COREQ.

    7.c. Results
Results must be presented clearly using text, tables, or figures without duplication. Tables require descriptive titles, Arabic numbering, independent interpretability, and explanations for any uncommon abbreviations. Figures must be high-resolution JPG, GIF, or TIFF files with captions on a separate page.

    7.d. Discussion
The Discussion should interpret the findings in relation to existing literature, highlighting the study’s strengths and limitations. Authors should also provide a clear explanation of the study’s Contribution to Global Nursing Practice, outlining how the findings inform nursing care, policy, professional roles, or international research relevance.

    7.e. Conclusion
The Conclusion provides a concise final statement without repeating previous sections.

  8. Conflict of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the work.

  9. References
References must follow APA 7th edition style.
