Peer Review Process
Editorial Initial Check
The editors of the Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal (ICON Journal) conduct an initial screening of all submitted manuscripts. This assessment covers the suitability of the manuscript with the journal’s scope, originality and novelty of the content, and the rigor of methods and data presented. Manuscripts that do not meet these fundamental criteria will receive a desk rejection. Manuscripts that pass this stage proceed to peer review.
Peer Review
ICON Journal implements a double-blind peer review process involving a minimum of three independent reviewers. Reviewers provide objective assessments of the scientific quality, methodological rigor, clarity, and relevance of the manuscript. They also offer constructive suggestions for improvement and recommend an editorial decision.
If conflicting recommendations arise, the editor makes the final determination. Editorial decisions at this stage include:
- Major Revision
- Minor Revision
- Accepted
Copy Editing
Accepted manuscripts receive a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) followed by an invoice for the Article Processing Charge (APC). The manuscript is then processed by the copy editor. Authors will receive the copy-edited version for proofreading and must review and approve all editorial changes.
Production
After authors complete the proofreading stage, the manuscript enters the production phase, where it is formatted, typeset, and prepared for online publication.
