The Use Generative AI

Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal  (Indones. Contemp. Nurs. J. - ICON Journal) upholds the integrity of academic publishing and recognizes the growing presence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in research and scholarly writing. To ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical use of AI tools, the following policy applies:

The use of GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Jenni Ai) are permitted only as a supportive instrument in the writing process, such as improving language, suggesting structure, or assisting in literature search. GenAI tools may not be listed as authors under any circumstances.

Authors must disclose the use of GenAI tools in their manuscripts, specifying how, and to what extent these tools were used (e.g., in language polishing, idea generation, or summarization). This should be clearly stated in the acknowledgments or a separate section.

Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and ethical integrity of any content generated or modified with the assistance of GenAI. Any form of AI-assisted plagiarism will be treated as academic misconduct.

Editors and reviewers may also use AI tools in a limited and transparent way (e.g., to check language or identify research gaps), but editorial decisions remain solely based on human judgment and ethical guidelines.

Plagiarism and Similarity Check

To ensure the integrity of publications, all submitted manuscripts undergo screening with Turnitin software. If a manuscript's similarity score surpasses 20% (excluding references and quotations), it will be sent back to the authors for revision or possible rejection. Authors must include evidence of Turnitin results when submitting, along with a cover letter stating that the manuscript has neither been published nor submitted elsewhere.
