Publication Ethic
The Journal of Applied Oral Health and Dental Therapy (JAOHDT) upholds ethical publishing practices to ensure the credibility, transparency, and integrity of scholarly communication in the fields of oral health and dental therapy. These ethical guidelines are informed by internationally accepted best practices in academic publishing and apply to authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
Authors’ Ethical Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for submitting manuscripts that represent original scholarly work and accurately reflect the research conducted. All data, methods, analyses, and interpretations must be presented honestly and clearly. Any use of ideas, data, or words from other sources must be properly acknowledged through appropriate citation.
Manuscripts submitted to JAOHDT must not be under consideration by another journal or previously published in substantially similar form. Authors must ensure that all listed authors have made meaningful intellectual contributions to the work and have approved the final version of the manuscript.
Authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including financial support, affiliations, or personal relationships that could influence the research outcomes or interpretation. For research involving human participants or animals, authors must confirm compliance with relevant ethical standards and approvals from authorized ethics committees.
Editors’ Ethical Responsibilities
Editors are entrusted with safeguarding the quality and fairness of the publication process. Editorial decisions are based exclusively on the scientific merit, originality, clarity, and relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s scope, without regard to the authors’ personal or institutional background.
Editors ensure that the peer-review process is conducted in a confidential, impartial, and timely manner. They must avoid conflicts of interest and refrain from using unpublished information obtained through editorial duties for personal or professional advantage. Allegations of ethical misconduct are handled objectively and in accordance with the journal’s established procedures.
Reviewers’ Ethical Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to provide objective, respectful, and constructive evaluations that assist editors in decision-making and help authors improve the quality of their work. All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential.
Reviewers should identify relevant prior work that has not been cited and notify the editor of any significant similarity between the manuscript under review and other published material. Reviewers must declare any conflict of interest and decline the review if impartiality cannot be ensured.
Publisher’s Ethical Responsibilities
The publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining ethical standards and ensures that editorial decisions remain independent of commercial or institutional interests. The publisher cooperates with editors in addressing ethical concerns and implementing appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
Ethical Oversight and Misconduct Management
JAOHDT takes reports of ethical concerns seriously and conducts thorough and fair investigations when misconduct is suspected. Unethical practices, including plagiarism, redundant publication, data fabrication, falsification, or unethical research conduct, may result in manuscript rejection, correction, retraction, or other appropriate actions.
By adhering to these ethical principles, JAOHDT aims to promote responsible research practices and uphold trust in scholarly publishing within the oral health and dental therapy community.
