Peer Review Policies
The review process will evaluate several key aspects, including the originality of the work, objectivity, research methodology, scientific significance, clarity of conclusions, and quality of references. Reviewer comments will be shared with the corresponding author for appropriate responses or revisions. The editorial board will carefully consider the reviewers’ recommendations before making and conveying the final decision regarding the manuscript to the corresponding author.
Single-blind review
Journal of the Indonesian Veterinary Research employs a single-blind peer review system, where the reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, but the authors do not know the identities of the reviewers. Manuscripts that are considered appropriate for review will generally be evaluated by at least two independent experts or external reviewers to ensure the scientific rigor and quality of the submission. The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript lies with the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief.
If delays occur in the review process, members of the editorial board may be asked to step in as reviewers. In rare circumstances, the authors may be invited to recommend potential reviewers.
Selection of reviewers
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the Indonesian Veterinary Research is responsible for selecting reviewers who possess relevant expertise in the subject area of the submitted manuscript. The board will carefully examine all declarations of potential conflicts of interest provided by reviewers to ensure there is no risk of bias. Typically, each research article must be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. However, if deemed necessary, the editorial board may request additional evaluations, such as involving a third reviewer or more, to ensure a thorough and fair review process.
To maintain the integrity of the peer-review system, the Editorial Board is also committed to following the best practice guidelines established by the Publisher, including strict measures to prevent the assignment of fraudulent reviewers.
Review Process
The review process of the Journal of the Indonesian Veterinary Research evaluates several key criteria, including novelty, originality, objectivity, research methodology, scientific impact, and the strength of the conclusions. Reviewer feedback will be communicated to the corresponding author to enable necessary revisions or responses. The Editorial Board will assess the reviewers’ comments and make a final decision regarding the manuscript, which will then be relayed to the corresponding author, in accordance with the reviewers' recommendations.
All communication between authors, reviewers, and editors must be conducted through the journal’s electronic submission system. The Journal of the Indonesian Veterinary Research also utilizes Turnitin Similarity Check to ensure each submission is screened for plagiarism before entering the review process.
The editorial workflow is structured as follows:
- Manuscript Submission by the author (Route 1).
- Initial Screening and Selection by the Managing Editor and Editors (Route 2). At this stage, editors have the authority to accept, reject, or forward the manuscript for review. A Turnitin similarity check is conducted prior to further processing.
- Peer Review Process by designated reviewers (Routes 3 and 4).
- Decision Notification from editor to author—acceptance, revision, or rejection—based on reviewer feedback (Route 5).
- Revision Process by the author.
- Resubmission of the revised manuscript according to reviewer suggestions (following the same pathway as the original submission, Route 1).
- If reviewers approve the revision, the editor will issue a formal Acceptance Notification (Route 6).
- Galley Proof Preparation and Publication Process (Routes 7 and 8).
Steps 1 through 5 collectively form one round of peer review (as illustrated in the grey-shaded section of the review diagram). The editor or editorial board carefully considers all reviewer input before reaching a decision. Possible editorial decisions include:
- Accepted without changes – the manuscript will be published in its original form.
- Accepted with minor revisions – the manuscript will be published pending minor corrections to be made by the author within a specified timeframe.
- Accepted with major revisions – the manuscript will be published once substantial revisions, as recommended by reviewers and/or editors, are completed by the author within the stipulated period.
- Resubmit (conditional rejection) – the manuscript is not accepted in its current form, but the journal may reconsider it following major changes and a new round of review.
- Rejected – the manuscript is declined and will not be considered for future publication, even if revised.
Confidentiality
The Editorial Board of the Journal of the Indonesian Veterinary Research is committed to upholding the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and all communications involving peer reviewers.
