About the Journal

ETNOSIA: Jurnal Etnografi Indonesia is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal, and rated based on international publication standards. We swiftly publish articles online, with printed versions published twice a year on a broad category of topics.

ETNOSIA which is published twice a year (June & December) aims to develop and enrich scientific discussion for scholars interested in socio-cultural issues in Indonesia, a massive archipelago with myriad ethnic groups and cultures. ETNOSIA specifies the publication in ethnographic approach on local wisdom, local knowledge, and local communities across Indonesia. We invite writers to submit research-based articles, book reviews, literature reviews, ethnographic notes, and scientific speech submissions.

The topics of the articles may include but are not limited to socio-cultural anthropology, maritime anthropology, legal anthropology, economic anthropology, ecological anthropology, anthropology of religion, political anthropology, agricultural anthropology, social identity, interactionism and symbolism, business anthropology, medical anthropology, linguistic anthropology, anthropology of tourism, ethnography of communication, cultural journalism, coorporate culture, and netnography.

The criteria for the articles submitted include the following types of articles: This article presents the results of ethnographic/qualitative research on specific topics and is related to ethnic/social groups in Indonesia; This article is a detailed discussion of applied and collaborative research with strong involvement between the author and the subject of collaborators in implementing intervention programs or other development initiatives that emphasize social and cultural issues; A theoretical writing that outlines the social and cultural theories related to the academic discourse of anthropology; Finally, the article is a critical review of anthropological references and other ethnographic books or social sciences books; an ethnographic note is any commentary, interview, field report, or event analysis; a scientific speech that relevant with development of research methods and anthropological theories.

Based on the Decree of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Number 10/E/KPT/2019, ETNOSIA: Jurnal Etnografi Indonesia declared as an Accredited Scientific Journal with categories "Sinta 2from 2019 - 2024.

ETNOSIA: Jurnal Etnografi Indonesia has been indexed by DOAJ, Sinta, Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, Academiaedu, Index Copernicus, BASE, and etc. member of Crossreff System with Digital Object Identifier (DOI) Preefix. 10.31947. All articles will have a DOI number.
