Authorship Criteria

GOVERNMENT: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan recognizes authorship as an important academic responsibility that reflects substantial intellectual contributions to scholarly work. All individuals listed as authors must have made meaningful contributions to the research and must accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify for authorship, each author must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, the collection of data, or the analysis and interpretation of data.

  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Approve the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

  4. Agree to be accountable for their own contributions and to cooperate in resolving questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work.

Individuals who do not meet all authorship criteria should not be listed as authors. Their contributions may instead be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission.

2. Author Responsibilities

All authors share responsibility for ensuring that the manuscript is original, accurate, ethically prepared, and consistent with the journal's publication policies.

Authors must ensure that:

  • All listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.

  • No eligible contributor is inappropriately excluded from authorship.

  • The manuscript has been approved by all authors before submission.

  • The submission is authorized by all authors and is not under consideration by another journal.

  • Sources, data, funding, and relevant conflicts of interest are disclosed accurately.

  • Any concerns regarding research integrity are addressed transparently and promptly.

3. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office throughout submission, peer review, revision, and publication.

The corresponding author must ensure that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript and that the information provided to the journal is accurate. The corresponding author is also responsible for communicating editorial decisions and revision requests to the other authors.

The designation of a corresponding author does not remove the responsibilities of the other authors.

4. Author Order

The order of authors should be determined collectively by the authors before submission, based on their relative contributions and mutually agreed academic conventions.

GOVERNMENT: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan does not prescribe a universal author-ordering system. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the agreed order fairly reflects their contributions and complies with applicable institutional and disciplinary standards.

5. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted in writing to the editor, explaining the reasons for the requested change.

All affected authors, including any author being added or removed, must provide written agreement to the proposed change. The editor may request additional documentation before making a decision.

Authorship changes will not be processed without appropriate justification and the required consent. If a dispute arises, the journal may suspend editorial processing while the matter is clarified with the relevant authors or institutions.

After publication, authorship changes will be considered only when justified and supported by appropriate evidence. Any approved change will be handled transparently through a correction or another appropriate editorial notice.

6. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

The journal does not accept the following practices:

  • Gift or honorary authorship: listing an individual who has not made the required intellectual contribution.

  • Ghost authorship: omitting an individual who made a substantial contribution that warrants authorship.

  • Guest authorship: including a person as an author primarily to increase the perceived credibility or prestige of the manuscript without meeting the authorship criteria.

  • Unauthorized authorship changes: adding, removing, or changing authors without appropriate justification and consent.

Suspected authorship violations may be investigated in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and research misconduct policies.

7. Acknowledgments

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the manuscript, provided they have given permission to be named.

Acknowledgments should accurately describe the nature of each contribution and must not be used to circumvent the journal's authorship requirements.

8. Ethical Compliance

By submitting a manuscript to GOVERNMENT: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan, authors confirm that the authorship information is accurate, that all listed authors meet the stated criteria, and that all authors have approved the submitted version.

The journal reserves the right to seek clarification, request supporting documentation, or take appropriate editorial action when authorship concerns arise.
