Conflict of Interest Policy

GOVERNMENT: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and impartiality of scholarly publishing. All authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may influence, or reasonably appear to influence, the research, peer-review process, editorial decisions, or publication of a manuscript.

1. Authors

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other relationships that could influence the research or the interpretation of its findings. Relevant interests may include employment, consultancy, funding, financial relationships, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, or competing academic interests.

A conflict of interest does not automatically disqualify a manuscript from consideration. However, relevant interests must be disclosed transparently so that the editorial team can assess their implications.

Authors must include a conflict-of-interest declaration in their submitted manuscript. If no relevant conflict exists, authors should state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

2. Reviewers

Reviewers must inform the editor of any circumstances that could compromise their impartiality. These may include close personal or professional relationships with the authors, direct competition, collaborative relationships, financial interests, or other circumstances that could affect an objective assessment.

Reviewers who identify an actual or potential conflict of interest must disclose it promptly. The editor may request clarification or assign another reviewer when necessary.

3. Editors

Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect their editorial judgment. An editor must not handle a manuscript when personal, professional, financial, institutional, or collaborative interests could compromise impartiality.

When a conflict is identified, the manuscript must be reassigned to an appropriately qualified editor who can make an independent editorial decision.

4. Assessment and Management of Conflicts

The editorial team is responsible for assessing disclosed conflicts of interest and determining appropriate measures to protect the integrity of the editorial process. Such measures may include requesting additional disclosure, assigning an independent reviewer or editor, or taking other appropriate action.

Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest may result in further investigation and appropriate editorial action, in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and correction or retraction policies.

5. Transparency and Accountability

All parties involved in the publication process are expected to provide accurate and complete disclosures. The journal will handle disclosures responsibly and maintain the confidentiality of information where appropriate, while ensuring that relevant conflicts are addressed transparently.

This policy applies throughout manuscript submission, peer review, editorial decision-making, publication, and any subsequent assessment of the integrity of a published article.
