Types of Manuscripts

GOVERNMENT: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan publishes scholarly articles that contribute to the development of knowledge, theory, and practice in government studies, public governance, and related fields. Manuscripts must be relevant to the journal's Focus and Scope and demonstrate academic rigor, originality, and a clear contribution to the field.

The journal considers the following types of manuscripts:

1. Original Research Articles

Original research articles report the findings of empirical or theoretical research related to government studies and governance. These manuscripts should present a clearly defined research problem, relevant engagement with the literature, an appropriate research design and methodology, systematic analysis, and a discussion of findings that contributes to scholarly debates or governance practice.

Empirical research may employ qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches. The manuscript should explain the research procedures sufficiently to support academic assessment and, where appropriate, reproducibility.

2. Review Articles

Review articles provide a critical and systematic synthesis of relevant scholarly literature on a topic within the journal's scope. They should identify significant debates, assess existing findings, discuss gaps or limitations in the literature, and establish directions for future research.

Authors must explain the approach used to identify, select, and analyze the literature. Systematic reviews should report their review procedures transparently and follow an appropriate reporting framework where applicable.

3. Conceptual and Theoretical Articles

Conceptual and theoretical articles develop, refine, or critically examine concepts, theories, analytical frameworks, or propositions relevant to government studies and governance. These manuscripts must provide a clear theoretical argument, engage critically with relevant literature, and explain their contribution to existing knowledge.

Manuscripts in this category should go beyond descriptive discussion and demonstrate a substantive analytical or theoretical contribution.

General Submission Requirements

All manuscript types must:

  1. Be original and not previously published, except where prior dissemination is explicitly permitted by the journal's policies.

  2. Not be under consideration for publication by another journal at the same time.

  4. Follow the journal's Author Guidelines, manuscript template, citation style, and ethical requirements.

  5. Include appropriate and verifiable references supporting the arguments and analysis.

The suitability of a manuscript type and its compliance with the journal's requirements are assessed by the editorial team. All manuscripts considered for publication are subject to editorial screening and the journal's applicable peer-review process. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

The journal reserves the right to decline manuscripts that fall outside its scope, do not meet the required scholarly standards, or fail to comply with its submission and publication policies.
