Peer Review Process

The Editor-in-Chief will assign the manuscript to the Managing Editor for further handling. The Managing Editor will request at least two scientists (experts) to review the research article manuscript. All manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer-review process; both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process to meet standards of academic excellence.

Detailed information about the flow from manuscript submission (author) to acceptance by the editor is illustrated in the figure below:

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Manuscript Submission (Route 1): The author submits the manuscript via the OJS online system.
  2. Manuscript Check and Selection (Route 2): Performed by the Managing Editor and Editors. Editors have the right to directly accept, reject, or proceed to review. Prior to further processing steps, a plagiarism check using Turnitin is applied for each manuscript.
  3. Manuscript Reviewing Process (Route 3-4): Double-blind review by appointed reviewers.
  4. Notification (Route 5): The Editor notifies the author regarding the decision (Acceptance, Revision, or Rejection) based on reviewers' comments.
  5. Paper Revision: The author revises the manuscript based on feedback.
  6. Revision Submission (Route 1): The author submits the revised version based on reviewer suggestions, following a similar flow to step number 1.
  7. Final Notification (Route 6): If the reviewer/editor is satisfied with the revision, the editor sends an acceptance notification.
  8. Galley Proof and Publishing (Route 7 and 8): Typesetting and final publication.

Decision Categories: Based on the review, the Editor will make one of the following decisions:

  1. Accepted, as it is: The journal will publish the paper in its original form.
  2. Accepted with Minor Revisions: The journal will publish the paper and asks the author to make small corrections (authors are given a stipulated time for revision).
  3. Accepted with Major Revisions: The journal will publish the paper provided the authors make significant changes suggested by the reviewers and/or editors (authors are given a stipulated time for revision).
  4. Resubmit (Conditional Rejection): The journal is willing to reconsider the paper in another round of decision-making after the authors make major changes.
  5. Rejected (Outright Rejection): The journal will not publish the paper or reconsider it even if the authors make major revisions.
