Editorial Process
Jurnal Gizi Masyarakat Indonesia (The Journal of Indonesian Community Nutrition) acknowledges the evolving role of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) in academic writing and research. To maintain scientific integrity, transparency, and accountability, all authors, reviewers, and editors must adhere to the following guidelines regarding the use of AI tools:
Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, or similar applications) must not be listed as authors or co-authors on any submitted manuscript.
Authorship requires legal and academic accountability, critical reasoning, and the ability to endorse the integrity of the published workâcriteria that artificial intelligence cannot fulfill.
Authors are permitted to use AI-assisted tools solely for the following purposes:
Language and Readability Enhancement: Improving grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and overall readability of the manuscript.
Formatting and Editorial Assistance: Structuring tables, citations, or bibliography formats.
Data Coding and Analysis Support: Assisting in coding or basic computational scripts, provided that all outputs are rigorously verified by the human authors.
The use of generative AI is strictly prohibited for:
Data Generation or Fabrication: Generating synthetic data, experimental results, or clinical observations.
Generating Factual Content without Verification: Creating core literature reviews, critical analyses, or research conclusions without human oversight.
Fabricating References: Generating fictional citations, bibliographic references, or non-existent publications.
If authors use generative AI or AI-assisted technologies during the preparation of the manuscript, they must transparently disclose this in the submitted article:
Where to Disclose: Authors must include a clear statement in the "Acknowledgments" or a dedicated "Declaration of AI Usage" section at the end of the manuscript (before the References).
What to Include: The disclosure must specify the name of the AI tool/service, the version used, and the specific purpose of its application (e.g., "The authors used [Name of Tool/Service] solely to improve the English language and readability of this manuscript").
Human authors assume full academic, ethical, and legal responsibility for the entire content of their manuscript, including any parts generated or edited with the assistance of AI tools.
Authors must carefully review, verify, and edit all AI-generated suggestions for factual accuracy, scientific validity, and originality.
Peer Reviewers and Editors are strictly prohibited from uploading submitted manuscripts (or any part of them) into publicly accessible AI platforms or LLMs for evaluation, summary generation, or peer-review assistance. Doing so violates the author's copyright and basic academic confidentiality principles.
