Digital Preservation Policy

Jurnal Gizi Masyarakat Indonesia (The Journal of Indonesian Community Nutrition) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, permanent availability, and security of its digital scholarly articles. To protect the scholarly record against accidental loss, technical failure, or discontinuation of the journal platform, we implement a multi-layered digital preservation and archiving strategy.

1. Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN)

  • Jurnal Gizi Masyarakat Indonesia utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) plugin integrated within the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

  • The PKP PN provides automated, decentralized, and permanent archiving for OJS journals. Published issues and articles are regularly harvested and preserved in a dark archive to ensure that the content remains accessible in the event of any critical platform failure or journal cessation.

2. LOCKSS and CLOCKSS Archiving Systems

  • The journal supports and utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) systems to create distributed archiving among participating academic libraries and institutions.

  • This system permits participating libraries to collect, preserve, and maintain permanent archives of the journal's content for educational, verification, and restoration purposes.

3. National and Institutional Repositories

In addition to international preservation networks, all published articles in Jurnal Gizi Masyarakat Indonesia are routinely indexed and mirrored in reputable national and institutional digital repositories, including:

  • Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital): The official national scientific publication portal managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

  • SINTA (Science and Technology Index): The national citation and indexing database for Indonesian academic journals.

  • Universitas Hasanuddin Repository: The official university institutional digital repository ensuring local institutional backup of all published research outputs.

4. Author Self-Archiving and Repository Rights

  • As an Open Access journal operating under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0), authors are permitted and encouraged to self-archive their published articles.

  • Authors may deposit the final published PDF version, accepted manuscript, or preprint in their respective institutional repositories, public subject repositories (e.g., PubMed Central), or academic social networks (e.g., Google Scholar, ResearchGate) immediately after publication without any embargo period.

5. Website Backups and Disaster Recovery

  • The editorial and technical IT management team conducts routine schedules of daily database backups and weekly full-site server backups.

  • All core data, published files (PDFs), and system metadata are securely mirrored on external server infrastructures to guarantee prompt data restoration and business continuity in the event of unexpected server outages or hardware failures.
