Editorial Process
Jurnal Gizi Masyarakat Indonesia (The Journal of Indonesian Community Nutrition) is committed to fostering transparency, reproducibility, and integrity in public health and community nutrition research. To facilitate scientific advancement and verification, we strongly encourage authors to make the research data underlying their published articles available to the scientific community, whenever legally and ethically permissible.
Transparency and Reproducibility: Authors are encouraged to share the raw data, processed datasets, statistical codes, and instruments (e.g., questionnaires or dietary assessment tools) necessary to replicate the findings reported in their manuscripts.
Protection of Human Subjects: As community nutrition research frequently involves human participants, participant privacy and confidentiality remain the highest priority. Data sharing must never violate ethical clearance, informed consent agreements, or data protection laws.
All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Gizi Masyarakat Indonesia must include a Data Availability Statement (DAS) at the end of the main text (prior to the Acknowledgments and References sections). This statement must clearly specify whether the research data is available and how it can be accessed.
Authors should adopt one of the following standard Data Availability Statements that best describes their data sharing status:
Option A: Data openly available in a public repository
"The datasets generated and/or analyzed during the current study are available in the [Name of Repository] repository, [Persistent Web Link / DOI]."
Option B: Data available upon reasonable request (Most Common for Community Health Data)
"The datasets generated and/or analyzed during the current study are not publicly available due to participant privacy and ethical restrictions, but are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request and subject to ethical approval."
Option C: All data included in the published article
"All relevant data generated or analyzed during this study are included in this published article and its supplementary information files."
Option D: Data sharing not applicable / restricted due to ethical or legal reasons
"The data that support the findings of this study are restricted due to [state reason, e.g., institutional confidentiality or legal protections for vulnerable populations] and cannot be shared publicly."
For research involving human subjects (e.g., nutritional surveys, mother-and-child health screening, or dietary interventions), authors must ensure that all shared data are completely anonymized or de-identified.
Direct identifiers (such as names, addresses, identification numbers, or birth dates) and indirect identifiers that could lead to the re-identification of participants must be removed prior to data sharing.
Authors must ensure that their Informed Consent documents signed by study participants permit the secondary use or de-identified sharing of their data.
When making datasets publicly available, authors are strongly encouraged to deposit their data in recognized, trusted public repositories that assign a Persistent Identifier (e.g., DOI or Accession Number). Recommended repositories include:
General Research Repositories: Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad, Mendeley Data, or Harvard Dataverse.
Institutional Repositories: Official academic repositories managed by the author's university or research institution (e.g., Universitas Hasanuddin Repository).
Government/Public Health Databases: Official public health or epidemiological data repositories where applicable.
Jurnal Gizi Masyarakat Indonesia recognizes data as an independent and valuable scholarly product.
Authors who use secondary or publicly available datasets in their research must formally cite the dataset in their reference list, including the author(s), year, dataset title, repository name, and persistent identifier (DOI/URL).
